May I have your attention, please? Attention is becoming a scarce commodity today. Our attention spans are becoming shorter. Have you ever found yourself talking to someone who isn’t listening? We may even wonder about the same thing with God. Do we have His full attention? Is He aware of anything we’re going through?

Joseph in the Old Testament might have wondered. He had done all the right things, but his brothers sold him into slavery. He resisted the advances of Potiphar’s wife because he was a person of integrity. She falsely accused him of sexual assault and that got him thrown into an Egyptian prison. He must have wondered if he had God’s full attention through it all.

The truth is that He did. God’s full attention was on Joseph, not just his immediate circumstances, but his long-term potential. God’s plan was for Joseph to save countless people from famine and to set into motion the events that eventually would lead the people of Israel to the Promised Land.

We too can have that confidence. Numbers 6:24-26 says, “May the Lord bless you and protect you. May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you. May the Lord show you His favor and give you His peace.” (NLT) The idea is that the Lord gives us His full attention. We have God’s undivided attention at all times whether good or bad. We can depend on that regardless of whatever is happening in our lives.
