A Word For Today: Wednesday, September 9, 2026

Just look at David’s Psalm 8:3-4, “When I look at the night sky and see the work of Your fingers – the moon and the stars You set in place – what are mere mortals that You should think about them, human beings that You should care for them?” To me, the point of these verses is that God is thinking about us.

Here’s an old saying, “You wouldn’t worry so much about what other people thought of you if you knew how infrequently they did.” There’s a sting in that truth, but there’s a truth in this Psalm that should bring us tremendous comfort. Yes, God is thinking about you! He not only is thinking about the whole of humanity, but He is also thinking about you individually. He knows every detail of your life. What’s more, Jeremiah 1:5 says, “I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb.” God even knows the very thoughts we think. Jesus said in Matthew 6:8, “Your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him.”

Our Heavenly Father thinks about us because we are precious to Him. He sees in us what isn’t always apparent to others. He sees our value, our worth, and our potential. He sees our heart. So, even if family and friends aren’t thinking about you, know this truth: The Lord is thinking about you. He cares about you and takes an interest in even the smallest details of your life. They might seem trivial to someone else, but not to God. If it concerns you, then it concerns Him. God is always thinking about you. Take comfort in that and thank Him.

In Christ,
Rev. David Edgar
