When I was young, I didn’t think much about Heaven. It seemed so far away and sounded so boring. I didn’t know anybody there, but soon would. It began with young friends and then grandparents and then finally my parents. More recently it’s been my older brother and high school friends.

Now when I think about Heaven, I think of a great family reunion with family and friends. Of course, the first one we’re going to meet there is the Lord. I think that part of what worship is all about is rehearsing for the great reunion with the Lord and every believer in the fellowship of the Lord.

After seeing the Lord, who are you excited to see next? Every believer throughout history will be there. Will it be Old Testament Jews like Moses and Elijah who met with Jesus on the Mount of Transfiguration? Will it be New Testament people like Mary or Paul? Imagine speaking with famous people throughout Christian history who believed in the Lord; scientists, world leaders and people from every tribe and nation. We’re going to have all eternity to visit with them.

1 Thessalonians 4:17-18 says, “There will be one huge family reunion with the Master. So reassure one another with these words.” (MSG) I hope you’re encouraged with the realization of being in the presence of the Lord with your family and friends in the faith. Death is not the end. We will see them again. There will be a great family reunion for eternity!

In Christ,
Rev. David Edgar
